Only when your a mother can the preparation and eating of dinner look something like this:
9:45am - Begin making dinner by cutting up veggies, putting chicken in the crockpot, etc.
9:50am - Child wakes up screaming.
9:55am - Move child into swing, bouncy seat, and boppy all within a five minute period so you can finish prepping dinner.
6:00pm - Get a phone call from your husband saying he'll be late.
6:05pm - Start trying to finish the dinner you started in the morning. During the cooking process move the child into the swing (try swinging both ways), the bouncy seat (facing me and outside, vibrating and not vibrating), the BeBe Pod (it just came today!), and the Baby Einstein Gym in a matter of 15 minutes. The child continues to scream. Resort to cooking dinner with one hand while holding the child in the other.
6:25 - Finally finish cooking dinner. Attempt to eat dinner. Place child in the boppy on the floor by your feet. Alternate taking bites, shaking the rattle, squeezing the Aflec Duck, and singing "This Old Man". Give up on dinner and call your husband and beg him to bring you home some ice cream.
This blog is about the young life of Ian as told by his mother.
