Fear

I'm often struck by the fact that Ian has no fear. No fear of thunder, no fear of spiders, and even no fear of his father pretending to poke him in the eye. Where do we learn fear?

I was talking with my mother tonight about one of my biggest fears, wind. She told me not to put my fears on Ian, and she's right, but where does the fear come from? Why am I afraid of the wind? It bothers me to think that Ian will learn fear from the things we do, the decisions we make, the movies we let him watch on TV and the words we say. It's very scary to have that kind of influence over someone's life. Posted by Picasa
