Kevin Bacon

In some weird 6 degrees of seperation thing, I know someone famous, sort of. The March 2006 babies board that I post on has a mom who is being featured on Good Morning America's Dancing with the Moms contest. So, if you have some time on your hands, go to http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/DancingMoms/popup?id=3069227 and vote for Heather Kangas!

Sumertime Baby!

Well, it's not really summer, since it's only April, but we had a glorious weekend, complete with two 80 degree days. We had our first cook out of the year. Ian was un-impressed with the food, except for the bread. We also hit the park and the shore this weekend. Can't wait for more warm weather! I wanna go swimming!

The Calm Before the Storm

Apparently, from what they tell me, I need to get out my basket because there is a huge storm coming tomorrow. However, today ended up being a pretty nice day. Ian and I went off to the park (dada was at home doing taxes). First we ate some ice cream, because the ice cream man is always at the park. Ian did not like the popsicle that I bought for him, but he loved my ice cream sandwich. Then we looked for ducks, but there were no ducks. Next, it was swing time. We did that for a long time, until he looked like he was going to puke. Then I had to take him out of the swing, which caused a HUGE meltdown, complete with lots of staring from the other parents. After the swing, we hit the slide and Ian found himself a girlfriend. She was older though. They took turns sliding down the slide (enter more tantrum throwing). After that got boring, Ian played in the stroller and with the wood chips while I talked with one of the other parents. All in all a fairly successful trip.

Old School

At Ian's birthday party a few weeks ago we hooked up the Nintendo 64. Since then, we've been in a Dr. Mario/Tetris frenzy around my house. Ian decided to rock out old school by playing Dr. Mario after his nap. He's actually better than his Aunt Melissa. :)

Sayen Gardens

Today we (Ian, Missy and I) went to Sayen Gardens. This was mostly for me to play with my new camera. Missy was a very good sport, considering it was 49 degrees out. I took lots of pictures. Here's a few that I took (to see more, click here).

We've had sort of a long week here. Ian got sick on Tuesday, spiking a fever of 104 at one point. The next day he was mostly recovered, but then a really big round of teething started. Thursday and Friday were filled with lots of hand biting and drooling, not to mention general crankiness. Spiced rum never looked so good.

The Learning Curve

Over the weekend, I decided to make a big purchase. I bought a dSLR camera. I'm really excited to learn more about photography, and since everyone tells me that I need a hobby, I though it was a good (albiet very expensive) purchase. I decided to buy a Canon Rebel XTi. While I have taken some pretty good shots with the Point and Shot Camera, the dSLR is a totally different story. In case you were wondering, the difference is that a dSLR camera has lenes that you can change, and more manuel setting. My new camera also has 10.1 megapixels, versus the 4 that my old camera has, so the resolution is greatly improved. Anyway, the point of this blogpost is to say that in order to try not to bore you with all of my learning pictures (except for the really good ones of Ian!) I'm starting a web gallery with these photos. If you want to see what I'm shooting (with the camera) take a look. If you just come here for the cute shots of Ian, then totally ignore the link.

Feel free to comment on any of the images.

PS: The picture was taken with the camera in the camera store. :)

DJ Ian

Ian likes to sit next to the radio (note the boom box from 1991, thanks mom and dad!) and turn the volume up and down. He gets all serious and listens to the music and dances with the beat.

Happy Easter!

Make a Wish!

I was playing the with macro function on my camera. I really thought this came out good. I like the way the flower is focused and the background is not. I want to figure out how to do that with protraits as well.

Portrait

I've been reading up on photography and working with my camera. I was attempting to get some Easter shots. This one is cropped, but is one of the better ones from the bunch.

More Swing Time

Just playing around with some editing. I'm not sure I like it, but thought I'd put it up and see what you think. I was unhappy with the color in the original picture (the first picture under "park time") so I cropped and adjusted the lighting. The color on his face was off, so I changed to sephia.
