Dear Dawn,
Thanks for inviting me and my mom to your beach house. I had lots of fun playing at the beach. Thanks for playing with me in the water. Besides the beach, my favorite parts of the day were taking a bath in the sink and walking back and forth between the fans in your house. I was SO tired, I fell asleep before we went over the bridge, but I woke up just in time to bug my mom when we got home! I hope I get to come back next year and go to the ocean!
Love,
Ian
PS: Can you explain that whole cousin thing to me again? That conversation was so confusing!
This blog is about the young life of Ian as told by his mother.

Beach Bum
Today we went to my cousin Dawn's beach house. We took Ian to the bay and he had a BLAST. That kid is fearless. Crawling into the waves, laughing as they smacked him in the face. He was a riot. He totally wore me out, and unlike him, I did not get to fall asleep on the car ride home. The poor kid was so tuckered out, he fell asleep before we even got off the island. It made for a quite ride home though, which was nice because I didn't have to listen to the music class CD!

A Note From the Crib of Ian

Why my day rocked
Today I went to the beach. I went with Melissa and my mom watched Ian. Ian had a great time at my mom's playing with his new toys and getting wet with the hose. Missy and I had a great time at the beach. The weather was perfect. I read a book and went in the water. Pure bliss. Of course, I'm paying now, as my legs got SOOOO sunburned. They are killing me.

16 Months
Dear Ian,
You are 16 months old now! You're a funny little guy. You understand SO much about the world around you. You can point to different things when asked, you know who many people are, and you have four words now! You say mama, uh-oh, hot (your favorite), and eye (but only if you're poking someone in the eye at the time!). You also learned the sign for "more" and you use it a lot! Your favorite things to play with are puzzles, books, and blocks. You still love Moose and Zee. Another thing you love to do is play with the straps on your stroller.
You are quite devilish when you want to be. You love to crawl up the stairs or eat my keys. You have a noise that you make that lets me know that you're going to do something you're not supposed to do! You also like to flush the toilet and play in the garbage can!
Your favorite foods are still fruit; grapes, strawberries, and cherries. You also like your milk a lot. This month you discovered the joy that is chocolate cake. You love your chocolate cake and you fit right in to this family!
You got your two bottom molars this month and are working on some top teeth. You also learned how to wave "bye-bye". No walking yet, but we think you're just being stubborn!
Love you lots!

The Fish Had to Die
So I finally figured out it was the fish that were keeping him up at night. We did a night with no fish, he slept fine. We did a night with fish and disaster, he was up again playing them and playing them. So the next day I took them out. He never looked for them or cried about them not being there. He goes to sleep. Last night he slept ALL night, I never heard him at all. Hopefully, this is the end of the sleep issues for a while (crosses fingers!).

Thank You
I wanted to say thank you to my friends and family (in real life and the people inside the computer) that have been supportive of me over the last month. It's been a really hard road. You might not understand why I'm doing this, but I have to go with my gut. I could ignore things and pretend that they were going to go away, but I can't. This early intervention time is SO critical that I can't afford to give it up. Even if you don't understand my decision, I need your support. If you have questions about why I'm doing this. Ask me. I'm more than willing to share with you.

So. Freaking. Tired.
I am so annoyed. This child has not slept, literally in two weeks. It takes him over an hour to fall asleep and every night he's up from 11-4 (although today it's 5:00am). He mostly lays there and plays the stupid fish, but he also likes to intersperse that with throwing his blanket and pacifier out of his crib and screaming. I am SO tired. I don't know if the fish are helping or huring the situation. Taking the fish out is sure to cause a massive massive amount of drama. I NEED TO SLEEP.
