Organic Milk?

Ian has been a model child this last week - verbal, attentive, great play, etc. He was great all weekend as well, and did really great in the grocery store with me. This morning he played by himself, driving cars, talking etc. (although he did line up a lot of stuff, but he's branched out into arcs and not just straight lines).

I got to thinking about what was different. What could have caused him to go from terror boy last week to angel boy this week. It could be a million things, but I realized that I had bought organic milk from BJs last week. I've never done that before, but the more that I read, the more that I wonder about the stuff that's in our food and the link between stuff. Could it be the organic milk that's helping him focus and be more verbal? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It could also be the 11+ hours of therapy a week too. :)

What We're Up To...

It's been a while since you've all gotten a good Ian update, so here you go.

Ian started hippotherapy on Monday. Hippotherapy is a type of occupational therapy that is good for sensory issues, fine and gross motor skills, balance and communication. This involves working with a trained OT (occupational therapist) and riding a horse. Yes. You heard that. Ian rode a horse. Despite the fact that it was 100 degrees, he did well. He did cry when he got on the horse, but I think that's to be expected at first, and he keeps asking me to go back and ride the horse again. I'm really excited about this new therapy.

Ian has been doing well with his talking lately. We've been working on asking questions, and once and and while he'll bust out with, "Where's ----?" He also has a lot of cute Ian-isms, such as, "pick-up again" (Ian to English (I2E): pick me up), "walk-a railing" (I2E: I want to walk up the stairs holding the railing), "these guys" (I2E: A cat, a bear and a blanket), "eat time now" (I2E: time to eat!), "after nap" (I2E: I'll see you after my nap, usually said to me as I leave in the morning), and drink wawa Miss Head's feet (I2E: I'm going to drink water in the bathtub out of Mrs. Potato Head's feet). He also thinks that the louder he says please (more milk, PLEASE!!!!!!!) the faster he'll get what he wants.

He's getting taller, and looking like a boy. When he's not lining things up, he enjoys long walks on the beach and romantic candleli... oh wait. He actually really likes going outside, playing in the sandbox or on the slide (but NOT the swing.. what a change from last year). He also likes watching TV and movies. His current movie favs are Nemo, Gordy, and Babe. We went through a brief "Toy Story" obsession, but that's faded somewhat. He'll pretty much watch anything on TV now, and he really likes the food network. :)

He also likes to read, do puzzles (he can do a 25 peice jigsaw), draw, play with playdough, and push things around.

My current nickname for him is stinky. In fact, I've said, "Goodnight Stinky" so many times to him that he now says it at bedtime.

He eats practically nothing. Reliable foods include milk, mac and cheese, pasta with meatballs, and goldfish. We've been a little off on the fruit lately, but I think he's getting some molars in the back.

Now it's time for me to go to bed, but I'll see you next time (another Ian-ism).
