This blog is about the young life of Ian as told by his mother.

A Room With a View

This is the view from the deck of our beach house. Just a quick summary of our week and then some more pictures for you.

Day 1 - Move in. Blah. Ate some expensive pizza and drank wine on the deck.

Day 2 - Great beach day. Very warm and the water was great. After the beach we had dinner on the boardwalk.

Day 3- Went to the beach on the AM, made sure that Ian got a nap, and then took Ian to the park. We made some delicious tacos for dinner.

Day 4 - We went to the aquarium, which was small, but cute. Went to lunch at a great italian resuraunt and then came home. Ian had a nap while I got really engrossed in my new book; Change of Heart by Jodi Piccult. We had some excellent Chineese food for dinner.

Day 5 - A nice but chilly day. We took a walk on the boardwalk in the AM and in the afternoon we went to AC and had a blast (Rob stayed home with Ian and they went back to the boardwalk and went on some rides). We had a great dinner at The Continental, which does tapas. I did loose money, but it was fun. I also went to a store called It'Sugar, which rocked, and I got the best gummi bears ever from there. I also drooled over Coach bags that I could never afford, but if anyone really loves me, here is the one that I want.

Tomorrow we hope to have a beach day, and Friday looks to be chilly and fall like, so we may hit the zoo and the boardwalk as our last hurrah! Not really looking forward to rejoining reality.

Let the Wild Rumpus Begin

We're on vacation this week, at the beach.  Day one has gone quite well.  The child is nestled all snug in his big boy bed, while visions of the beach dance in his head.  I'm sitting in bed, clean, watching Pretty Women and blogging.  Tomorrow the forcast is sunny and warm.  The perfect day to soak in some rays...  pictures to follow!

Is it wrong?

Is it wrong to wish I were Rip Van Winkle so I could sleep for 20 years (or however long he slept)?

I hate the start of the school year.

Horses

I can't say enough about hippotherapy. In case you missed it, Ian is doing hippotherapy once a week. Hippotherapy is essentially riding a horse, although I'm sure that his therapist would disagree with my simple assessment. They work on all sorts of skills during the session, but basically Ian rides, once a week for 45 minutes. The kid is a freaking natural. It's so hard to describe, and he loves it. His face lights up when he's riding; he's like the poster child for hippotherapy. We've seen progress in all areas, but particularly fine and gross motor skills.

Ian's horse is named Miss Shawna. His therapist is Miss Robby and there are two helpers, Miss Shawn and Miss Carrie. He just got an official riding helmet last week.

I will bring the camera to take more picture next week, especially since we are going outside now that it's not so hot and I should be able to get some great shots in the outdoor light.

Yes, We Are Alive...

I know you're wondering where the hell we've been. Essentially, it's chasing after Ian. We've had a fun summer and have gone on many outings. The problem is that it's much harder to photograph a running toddler than it is to photograph one who isn't walking. This is the reason for the lack of picture lately. Never fear. I have a few on my camera to upload and I hope to do some more this week. We don't have any OT on Tuesday or Thursday, so maybe we'll venture somewhere photo-graphical and take some shots.

Some recent highlights:
1. This summer we've been to the zoo, the aquarium, the beach, the boardwalk, the children's museum, the park, and Ikea. He did great at all of the above, except Ikea, but he's a man-in-training so who came blame him.
2. Ian LOVES cars and the train table thing at Barnes and Noble. He askes to go to the "bookstore" everyday.
3. Ian weights 31.9 lbs and is 36.5 inches tall. He wears a 4T top and a 3T bottom (although both are a little bit big).
4. Ian is big on TV. He likes Handy Manny, Barney, Bob the Builder, Thomas, Max and Ruby and the Mickey Mouse Club.
5. Ian loves horseback riding and it has been SO wonderful for him. His strength and balance have improved so much in the last few weeks.
6. Ian's therapy is going very well and he's making a lot of progress. His speech has really improved in the last few weeks and he is doing very well with recalling details about his day and answering and asking questions. You can "almost" have a conversation with him, which is cool. It's very interesting to hear his thinking.
7. Ian can do a 24 peice jigsaw puzzle by himself.
8. We took the rail off of his crib, and he now has a "big boy bed"

Running

Life with a two year old moves fast....

We've been having a fun summer, even though I am working (ugh, ugh and ugh). We've been to the "big beach" aka ocean, the aquarium, the zoo, and the "little beach" aka mom-mom's beach. Still working on a trip to the boardwalk, the sprayground and maybe the Children's museum.

Hopefully I'll get some good pics on Friday, whereever we go. My aquarium pics did not come out well at all, due to low lighting.

Nothing Says Motherhood Like Vomit in Your Hands

Ian woke up last night with a fever, which I am sure is compliments of our hour long wait in the doctor's office earlier in the week. So, nothing says loving like trying to give the kid some ibuprofen and having him gag and vomit in your hands. Yay. Looking forward to a great weekend.

Into Everyone's Life a Little Rain Must Fall :)

The rash is gone. Yay to Zyrtec. We're back on Prevacid to see if it's the reflux that's causing all the gagging at each and every meal. The funny things is that he used to fight us about taking the medicine, but now that we've started back up he's asking for it. LOL. What a difference a few months makes!

Ian can now say the alphabet and count to 17. He can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Old MacDonald. He can do a 20 piece jigsaw puzzle with just a little assistance. He's really into trucks and cars now, and has a few new catch phrases. Current favs are, "No no drama" (which I think he got from a Fergie song), "Funk!", and "Hi, Mommy" (which is his way of getting my attention or trying to get me to repeat something). At the doctor he weighed 31.5 lbs; apparenlty you can gain weight on Mac and Cheese along. He's also about 36 inches tall.

Where's my baby?
